I had been wanting to see Arches for a long time and finally got to go this weekend! Very very crowded but gorgeous.

I've been to Northern America ('93 '95 and '97) and three times I visited Grand Junction (Colorado) where I stayed in the nice Melrose Hostel and took part in the organized day trip to Arches. Actually in 93 I took the trip twice. It is just such a wonderful place.

loved arches from the first moment i laid eyes upon it. it's a great place to climb towers though i've only just started with climbs of bullwinkle and off-balance towers. and of course, everyone should experience elephant butte once in their lifetime.

4/16/11- climbed tonka tower, west face(5.8 A0) and owl rock's olvesky route(5.8) on a beautiful, sunny day.

10/15/11- climbed bubo tower's north face(5.7 R) in the twilight before rappelling into the night.

11/19/11- devil's golf ball(5.9 C1), my first aid tower. a strenuous, free jugging experience. good stuff! dark angel, dark angel....

2/18/12- pickle(5.9 C1), my first sustained aid lead. took awhile, but i felt really comfortable working my way up the bolts. the free moves at the top were funky until reaching the big hueco.

3/24/12- ham rock(5.8+), possible true first ascent w/derek. what a rope-eater of a crack on the rappel, a strenuous pull to say the least!

10/13/12- three penguins(5.10a, C1), a year long project A.J. and i finally put to rest! topping out was a rush of relief after being stumped by this monster twice before. now to bigger, tougher towers....

the question lingers, how cool would a free rappel from the double arch be?

A great place for desert hiking. Really enjoyed the Fiery Furnace, the walks out to the Dark Angel and the Klondike Bluffs.
