OverviewCovering an area of 112,512 acres and spanning from the Chetco River in Southern Oregon to the Santa Lucia Mountain in Monterey, California lie the Coastal Redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens).
These trees are the tallest living thing known to man, growing easily up to 200 feet, 300 feet is not uncommon either, although less common than 200 feet. The tallest known Giant Redwood was discovered in 2006 and is 379 feet tall. They can grow up to 23 feet around and their diameter is only outdistanced by their close relative; the Giant Sequoia. Though looking at the Panorama below, they are still quite impressive nonetheless.

Drive-Thru TreesThe Shrine Drive-Thru Tree - At 275 feet tall and 21 feet wide and over 5000 years old, this tree is one of several Drive-Thru Trees in the Redwoods National and State Parks. This one is located in Myers Flat, CA.
To get here take the Myers Flat exit off of Highway 101 and then follow the signs. Actual address is 13078 Avenue of the Giants/Myers Flat, CA.
Tour Thru Tree - Located in Klamath, CA off of the Terwer Valley exit, this tree is altogether about 165 feet tall due to it's branches. It's real top was actually blown off and it ends at about 90 feet. The width of it's opening is about 7 feet and 4 inches and the height of it's opening is about 9 feet and 6 inches. This tree is relatively young at only 700 years old.
The Chandelier Tree - This drive-thru tree is located in Leggett, CA. It is 315 feet tall and it's diameter reaches 21 feet. Interestingly enough, this tree is still alive even with a tunnel running through it's base. As a matter of fact the tunnel needs to be continually enlarged every few years or so because it tries to close the gap.
Signs are pretty well marked to get to this attraction, just follow directions from Highway 101.
