The lake's name ... where did it originate?
No problema! It is very beautiful. Shaped by
the awesome power of Nature. Love your photos!

The name cames from the one of an old farm (I don't know if it's correct to call it this way, in Italy we call them "Alpeggi", they are places where to bring the livestock in the summer on the mountains).
The lake you see here is an impound, the old "cavalli" farm is now under the water.
Idon't know if before the impound was built there was a small lake yet.
Thanks for the comment, i like to spend time watching your photos, the landscapes of the mountain of Arizona are so different from the one of the Alps!

You are right! I zoomed in upon your picture,
and I see the impound. Does that mean the water is being used for farming???

The reason I love your photos, is because they are so different from the landscape in Arizona. We also have a lot of livestock here in Arizona, even where the water is scace or
not very much water. That is why we have very
big impounds or DAMS ... here in America.
Thank you for answering ... molte GRAZIE!!!
Viva the mountains of Italy! Amore!!!

The water of the impounds is used to produce energy in a small powerhouse below.
Now the farming has moved on the higher pastures of the valley.
If you want more information about this area you can look at my page about Antrona Valley.
Best regards. Marco.
