OverviewSvartisen is Norway's second to highest glacier and has an area of 370 squarekilometers. The highest point on the glacier is 1594 meters above the sea, the lowest point is just 20 metres and ice thickness is up to 450 meters.
Getting ThereSouth side of the glacier is accessible by road from Mo-i-Rana. It is about an hour drive. Mo-i-Rana lies on E6 highway, has train station and a small domestic airport.The closest international airport is Trondheim - about 6 hours drive to the south.
North side is less accessible but can be reached by public transportation from Bodo.
Both sides have visitor centres.
