This enjoyable duo was quite a nice surprise, steep and adventurous and hiking a purely sandstone mountain was our first. The only downside is the dearth of signs and confusing array of use trails down below. Otherwise, quite a treat.
Sneaked out from family Xmas gathering in SB for a couple hours to hike with brother John. This is really enjoyable scramble up a spiney ridge that is noticeable from almost everywhere in the Santa Barbara area. The sandstone boulders on the ridge are beautiful, arcing up 1500 vertical feet and offering numerous scrambling and bouldering opportunities along the way. Stubby and charred chaparral can be quite brutal on exposed skin. Next time I'm back in SB I'll be doing this one again!
