| msmullins | Morning Delight ![]() Date Climbed: Sep 2, 2009 | |
| I spent two months living at the base of Salisbury Crags and Arthur's Seat on East Parkside and loved waking up to the view every morning. I made a point of summitting Arthur's Seat at least once a week while I was in Edinburgh. If you're in the city, you can't find a better view of the surrounding area. | ||

| When I visited Edinburgh as a buff university athlete, I assured my Scottish uncle that I would run up Arthur's Seat. He cheerily dropped me off along the base, and I began to run straight up the side. It took about 30 seconds for me to realise this was completely unsustainable, but I looked behind to see my uncle had, maddeningly, decided to observe my progress. As a matter of pride I had to keep running until I could get out of sight, which took several of the longest, most painful minutes of my life. | ||

| Hiked this on a University trip to Scotland! Pondered many things on the summit. Let geography and geology flow together. Now I see it as a symbolic marker of change in my life at the time. | ||

| Ascent timed to celebrate my 31st birthday which happened to be suitably clear to offer us a splendid view. Wife strangely opted for a very direct route down to the southwest and then began to panic on the somewhat foolish scramble down! | ||

| Cortez | What do you do before a Hearts/Hibs derby? Take a walk in the park. ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 6, 2007 | |
| What a nice jaunt up a great hill in Edinburgh. The summit offers amazing 360 degree views of Edinburgh. I did this hike prior to attending the Hearts vs. Hibs derby at Tyncastle Stadium. All & all it was a superb day - despite the fact that Hearts lost:( -. After the match, it was back home to Glasgow. | ||

| A late day break in the weather meant a quick hike up with some great afternoon light. I'm glad I checked SP to see if there were any interesting hills around Edinburgh! Since there wasn't much vertical I handicapped myself with a belly full of deep fried haggis and even a deep fried candy bar. Oh, and the beer. What a good day! | ||

| Bruce Christensen | Amazingly close to the city ![]() Date Climbed: May 25, 2007 | |
| Walked from the Royal Mile right to the top of Arthur's Seat. It's a pretty quick hike, and the views of Edinburgh and the Firth of Forth are excellent. Definitely a fun break from the busy city. Pictures (including a 360 degree summit panorama) are available from http://picasaweb.google.com/bruckie/LondonArthurSSeat. | ||

| Ticked this one off my list on a beautiful day, a good 31st birthday. At least it was a good day until the wife decided she wanted to take a "quick" route down to the west which turned out to be rather more of a scramble than she had bargained for! Great view: well worth the walk if you visit Edinburgh. | ||
