Ascending the Pearly Gates

Ascending through the Pearly Gates of Mt Hood on the Hogsback Route. There was only 3 inches of snow with hard ice beneath it when we were there. An ice ax would not have stopped a fall initially. However, there was deeper snow 40ft below us. Photo taken April 9, 2005.
