Hey, did you really feel the need for the rope up there? We are heading there in a few weeks and planning to climb solo (obviously with crampons)

Assuming the rope coil dangling from his hip is hanging free (debatable), I used it as a plumb line and rotated a few degrees to a more plausible angle. Still pretty steep.

On rock, it's amazing what a difference a 5 degree increase in slope will do the the difficulty. 35 degrees is class 3, but 45 degrees is perhaps 5.5.

Morgan, you seem to be an expert at rotating digital photos!! :) What kind of software do you use? Sometimes after I've taken a photo, I realize the horizon isn't exactly parallel with the picture borders, but don't know how to adjust it given my (free) photo editor.

Heh-heh, maybe I'm just a nitpicky prick. ;-)

On Linux, I use gimp. On Windows, I use Photoshop ELements LE (came bundled on Sony Vaio laptop). If you don't have either of these, I would guess that most freeware photo editors would have the option to enter a numeric rotation angle. But most image processing freeware continually amazes me with its level of suckiness...

I'll have to see if I can find that Photoshop Elements (recently got a new laptop); I usually use Irfanview (I'm satisfied using it for most purposes), but haven't found any rotation capability, except for 90 deg at a time. Keep up the vigilance!:)
