Ascending Vahushti Pass

Vahishti Trail is the standard shortcut to Inguri Glaciers from Tskhenis-Tskali Basin. It crosses the divide between Upper and Lower Svanetia just South of the Main Crest of the Caucasus.

The Ushguli road, visible down below, crosses the same divide in about 8 kilometers further South-West. This remarkable roadtrack is the only road leading into the Gorge the Upper Svanetia over its ring of mountains.
