I think the ascent path pictured on the photo above is very long - it does offer great views of Dallas, but I think if you are worried about your time, it is better to use the descent route for both ascent and descent.
Anyway, this is great and informative photo. I think the descent may go even further west along the base of the peak, and the trail higher up is marked with cairns.
