Great Capture!

Was there a lot of noise that went along with the avalanch? We have seen rock slides across valleys before, and it sounded like thunder.

Re: Great Capture!

There was some noise but with so much fresh snow a lot of silencing of the noise also due to all the fresh snow. The avalanche came a lot closer than this picture shows, down to the valley floor, that this picture is taken from. The ridge line is at about 3300m and the valley floor is at about 1700m. The avalanche started by some of the wind blown corniced ridge line falling away. Where I was there was some wind followed by it snowing due to the "fall out cloud".
