Backcountry permit

Backcountry permit

Backcountry permit is required for all inner canyon hikes. The permit is available at the visitor center, or in front of the visitor center if they are closed. I put initially on it only going part the way, did not want to scare the ranger. They recommend for Warner route an overnight hike, and I chose the snow/ice conditions going alone. But it was easy and fast. No overnight travel necessary unless you want to camp down there. The same permit does apply to rock climbing, and park rangers have detailed route descriptions and up to date information on the new routes. Some of the park rangers are climbers, and are putting up new routes.
