Solitude!  Sucess!

I was warned that I wouldn't find solitude here, but I had the summit (and the entire trail on the ascent) all to myself.

Successful Training Hike  Sucess!

What a fun climb up Baden-Powell in perfect weather! I was surprised by how much snow is still up there and was glad I brought micro spikes. What a fantastic view from the top and I had the summit all to myself for a good 15 minutes. This was a training hike for Mount Hood.

Summits on the Air  Sucess!

My wife and I hiked this peak and set up HAM radio equipment contacting people accross the country. WE counted the switchbacks during the hike, and counted 40...

My first San Gabriel high peak  Sucess!

Took the Dawson Saddle route... much fewer people *and* switchbacks. True to the namesake, saw a large Boy Scout troop on the summit. Could see all the way to the Panamint Range from the top, but was not as impressed as I'd expected by the rest of the views. Maybe it was the carnival atmosphere at the top.

a little snow  Sucess!

pretty fun peak. still had a fair amount of snow above 8500ft. used crampons for a bit. The lower part of this mountain is pretty steep and climbing it in full winter conditions would be a challenge

Windy but worth it  Sucess!

It was a very cold day out and the switchbacks were pretty hard to make out, but we ended up making it to the top. Need to keep an eye on the ice levels when I hike it again next winter as it was a bit slicker than I had anticipated.

Up from Crystal lake  Sucess!

Long day hike from Crystal lake. Didn't run into any other hikers on the way there or back, just a couple others at the summit. Nice to get this one checked off the list

4 peaks out of Dawson  Sucess!

the summit is spacious and wide, with a big memorial and summit register stand without a top on it...the views are great!

From Vincent Gap  Sucess!

A winter ascent, which is a great way of avoiding crowds and finding a little adventure.

9 Peak Day  Sucess!

Heather and I parked below Windy Gap at 7am and then hiked up Baden-Powell, Burnham, Throop, Hawkins, Middle Hawkins, and Islip. We got back to the car at 2pm and then drove around hiking up Akawie, Winston, and Lewis. The next day we did both summits of Twin Peaks as well as Waterman.

Beautiful Hike  Sucess!

The views from the top were probably some of the best in Southern California. (I say probably because this is the highest peak I've climbed thus far; no Baldy or Old Greyback.)
