Nice family summit!  Sucess!

This is one of, if not the best peak to climb if you have kids with you. Ours are age 5 to 11, they all made it and loved it. Big reward with little effort!

R&R After Kings  Sucess!

Enjoyed this nice climb with Andy for recovery the day after Kings Peak. The trail was still drifted over and impassible about half way up. There was an easy detour herd path cutting right first traversing and then upslope that avoided nearly all of the snow. The snowfield kept 90% of the lower trail traffic from reaching the summit. Got some great close up photos of the mountain goats!

A Night On Bald Mountain  Sucess!

Ammon Hatch and I spent August 13th camping in the Uintas so we could observe the Perseid meteor shower, and we summited Bald Mountain the next day. This was a great weekend getaway.

Best Bang for Your Buck in the Uintas  Sucess!

This is hands-down the first choice in the Uintas if you have one day or one summit in your schedule.

-- Great View (I like the view of the Wasatch to the distant west and the sloping canyons to the south down into the Roosevelt/Vernal basin.)

-- Short Distance (Getting to this high of elevation in such short mileage is rare.)

-- Fun Family/Beginning Hike (This is a humdinger of an introduction to hiking for newbies. I haven't found the elevation to be a problem for those who live in the Mountain West area.)

-- "Summer" Surprises Possible (Snowflakes anytime after mid-August are common, so that makes the kiddos go nuts and they'll never forget it.)

Very crowded and popular for a reason. Highly recommended.

Bald Mt.  Sucess!

10/16/2013 I parked my car just short of Bald Mountain Pass, at a pullout overlook. From there I headed up Murdock Mountain, and found the Wasatch County highpoint on the way down. Once down to my car, I restocked my water and headed up Bald Mountain. Pretty easy going until I got to the ridge/plateau area. Knee to thigh deep postholing most of the way up the last 500 feet of vertical. Quite a bit of snow up there already. Fantastic views and perfectly blue skies, albeit very windy and cold on top.

Rain delay  Sucess!

Drove to the trailhead and started hiking up the trail, but a strong wind kicked up and it began to rain in earnest so we decided not to continue the hike. We drove back towards Kamas and stopped at the Provo River Falls for a bit and the weather improved, so we drove back to the trailhead and had a great hike. It was the first time that my wife had climbed the mountain. Our little Shitzu enjoyed himself as well.

Ascent with east coasters!  Sucess!

I have two friends visiting from Maryland, and I wanted them to stand majestically atop a mountain, but we're running a half-marathon this weekend. I didn't want to kill them with lots of mileage or a super steep climb, but I wanted to expose them to some elevation (and some gorgeous!). Perfect hike with which to introduce them to Utah. A+, Bald Mountain.

Rushing to Beat the Storm  Sucess!

Geniel and I started at 2 pm after the 1.5 hour drive from SLC. A storm to the south spanning from Box Elder Peak far to the east hung there the whole time. Then, as we approached the end of the trail on the way down, it moved in and we ended up getting a little wet. Great views, though!

No Air  Sucess!

I took a buddy from Los Angeles up this and he just kept asking where the air was? It's an awesome view at the top and worth the nice climb. You can't get up so high in Utah so easily as Bald Mountain. Take the couple hours and head up!

Easy and Decent  Sucess!

A good view, and an easy trip. Hardest part of this one is the drive to get there.

Bald  Sucess!

Fresh, clear air after snowstorm. Winds were high. Conditions had almost nobody in the mountains that day. Standard route.

Cold and Windy  Sucess!

There was a little snow on top, and a light dusting on the surrounding peaks, but the wind was what made it cold. It wasn't terribly cold, just a little. Anyway, a storm was coming in and it was so beautiful over the many mountains and lakes everywhere. Such a beautiful and short hike. I highly recommend this to everyone. Made it to the top in an hour with a nice easy pace.

Bald Mountain  Sucess!

This was a great hike. Where else can you hike to that elevation and bring the whole family along. We did an afternoon hike and that turned out to be the best time on this trip. We pretty much had the top to ourselves. On the way back down we trailed along with a small group of Mountain Goats, they didn't seem to worry to much about our presence. This hike offers never ending views of so many places I would like to visit in the future. Reids Peak Kept on calling me, I am going to have to do a little research for that one. Maybe there is a trail somewhere. This is a bonus for anyone doing the Mirror Lake Route. Stop and stretch your legs, the worst part of the trip is just trying to get use to the elevation. Great Hike!!!

Hiked up Bald Mountain, then traversed over to Reids. Descended SW off the saddle to meet the trail.

good  Sucess!

I used to car camp in the basin south of the peak and hiked up from there at least twice. No trail needed for boulder hopping - the objective is plain.
