Baldy Peak  Sucess!

Woof. Horses wrecked the trail quite a bit, and I'd estimate 50%+ of the trail was overgrown, and that grew to 100% for the short summit trail branch. Overall, though, the views were fantastic and the isolation was great—no other hikers today, just 2 teams of horses on the way down.

Trail loop  Sucess!

Baldy trail up and Storm Gulch trail down for a nice loop. A few horses, no hikers. Great views of the surrounding high peaks.

Standard Trail  Sucess!

Hiked this twice. With snow, it's a slog. Dry, its pleasant. Great views of the surrounding area once you're on the ridge.

The winter road closure adds an additional 2.1 miles, one way.

Baldy Peak  Sucess!

In the afternoon and evening, I climbed Baldy Peak in the San Juan Mountains. I made a loop up Storm Gulch and down the Baldy Trail. There were quite a few hunters on the mountain (I wore orange), but I had the summit to myself. The views were really nice.
