trail maintenance day  Sucess!

Took 99 minutes to get to the summit of Fissure from Mule Pass. I did a lot of trail clearing with a club on the way up and down. Someone had soaked the summit register so I spent an hour on the summit drying it out in the sun, but it was still damp when it was time for me to descend.

Warm day in the mules!  Sucess!

I tagged both summits and on my way back found a faint use trail at the saddle so I didn't have to retag Ballard. It was a very warm day for that time of the year with temps in the low 80s back at Mule Pass. Great views into Mexico and the surrounding ranges.

Sunny day in the Mules  Sucess!

Hiked from Mule Pass up the trail to Mount Ballard, then descended to the saddle and up the south ridge of Fissure Peak. I had the route to myself.

Both  Sucess!

Dennis and I tagged both Ballard and Fissure. Nice trail to Ballard and then not too bad over to Fissure.

Mules with packs  Sucess!

Hiked Ballard with family, I tagged Fissure, as will
all true peak baggers. Judging by the abandoned
backpacks at the Mule Pass trailhead, this trail
may get use by two legged mules now and then.

2003 and 2012  Sucess!

Hiked Ballard back on a hot August day in 2003 with my wife, and came back in 2012 to hike both Ballard and Fissure. Also hiked Juniper Flats Peak across the valley.
