| Justin Pucci | Mason Lake Trail to Little Bandera ![]() Date Climbed: Sep 27, 2009 | |
| My wife and I finally got over to Bandera Mountain after about a year or so of it being on our list. We only went to the "false" summit or Little Bandera Mountain, as we wanted to relax and cook some food with great views. The "bootpath" to the true summit was faint at best. We'll head back up to tag the true summit eventually. The views along the way were some of the most spectacular that I've seen from an I-90 peak. | ||

| As with most mountains in this area, the views were amazing. The trail to the Mason Lake junction is ridiculously easy, it gets fun after that point. As of today, the road to the TH is funky in five places, three of which are currently marked with construction sandwich board signs and tape. The final washout on the road is pretty good, but anyone with a four wheel drive and some clearance should have no issues getting to the TH. | ||

| I finally made it all the way to the true summit! A fun trip on a beautiful day when the weather predictions were clouds and rain. The snow slopes down from the ridge were the perfect angle and softness for excelent foot glissades. | ||

| Just did this hike yesterday, and the weather was absolutely perfect. The traffic on the trail definitely thinned out at the turn-off for Bandera, and it was nice and clear at the top. Nice views of Rainier and Seattle in the distance. | ||

| Redwic | Some Trail!!! ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 25, 2007 | |
| After the trail junction, the hike becomes STEEP for a while. Then there are several spots with nice views of Mason Lake. It's easy to realize why most hikers do not go to the true summit. There are several points which could be considered as "false summits", and the trail(s) (I use that term loosely) between them and the true summit occasionally disappears & requires minor bushwhacking. A GPS is helpful. You should be both physically fit & adventurous to go to the true summit. | ||

| Had a good hike. We intended to take the old climbers' trail, but must have missed it. Just under two hours up. 45-minutes at top to enjoy pretzels and a bottle of wine, then about an hour back down. | ||

| Bandera is a fun SHORT hike on the 90 corridor. Its fun to climb Defiance, then Bandera in one outing. There is a treasure on Bandera. Clue: Where the trail splits... Hmmm... If you search for it, you will find it. The near last section is steep and fun... | ||

| osatrik | New trail route -- before it was there! ![]() Date Climbed: Nov 17, 1996 | |
| A small OSAT group (Roy, List, Tom and Leah, and I) climbed the open south slopes before the new Mason Lake Trail was built. It involved a bit of bushwacking back then, but was worth the effort. | ||

| Made it to the end of the hiking trail.... I was pretty sure that we weren't on the true summit, but then another hike told us we definitely were. Unfortunately, he was wrong, so I'll have to bag this one some other time. | ||

| Got home from college, had time for a couple hikes before jetting out again. I kept hearing about the light snowpack, and that was sure obvious here - no snow the entire way! Just a beautiful day; I'd hate to be out on that talus during the summer. | ||

| Climbed this with my dad and his friend. I enjoyed the final push to the summit over rocks, but the summit was somewhat of a letdown due to trees blocking the view to the north. It was a fun climb though. | ||
