| Camped in White Sands Park which doesn´t open their gates until 7:00 so we had to start later than I would have liked. We got to the west trailhead around 8:00. We got close to the false summit but turned around because of the heat, lack of water, and we were getting frustrated with the number times the yucca and cactus cut our legs. 4 liters of water for 2 people was not enough with that heat. It was a beautiful place, and I would love to try again but when it´s cooler. I saw a very fast, thin iridescent blue snake. The car thermometer read 103°F when we got back. |
