| Camped in White Sands Park which doesn´t open their gates until 7:00 so we had to start later than I would have liked. We got to the west trailhead around 8:00. We got close to the false summit but turned around because of the heat, lack of water, and we were getting frustrated with the number times the yucca and cactus cut our legs. 4 liters of water for 2 people was not enough with that heat. It was a beautiful place, and I would love to try again but when it´s cooler. I saw a very fast, thin iridescent blue snake. The car thermometer read 103°F when we got back. | |

| I love the Organ Mountains. They are probably my favorite mountain range in all of New Mexico! Unfortunately, this may be my only ascent of one of the Organs in that I lack the technical rock climbing skills. | |

| I was still pretty new to climbing mountains when I did this hike. Lots of people talk about hiking Baylor pass so I decided to hike Baylor Peak. Fun hike. | |

| 6.5 hours round trip from Baylor trail head to top of peak. saw lots of lizards, but no snakes. Wind was moderate on the ascent, but rather stiff going down! | ||

| Great hike with very rewarding views. There is no real trail to the summit making it a slow go of avoiding cactus, but still a well worth hike. | |

| Agree with other comment that it was odd that we had never climbed this peak. It was hot the day we went up, so we made it as far as the false summit and will go back on another cooler day. | |

| My first summit on Baylor was a windy stormy day. Right at the pass a big, black helicopter passed not 200yds overhead coming from the east and continued south through the Organs. Passed by another 3 or 4 times while I was summiting. Don't know if this is common but pretty spectacular addition to a nice summit. | |

| After hiking up Baylor Canyon a few times I wondered why the trail didn't continue to the Baylor Peak summit. There are signs of a use trail along the ridge, but all in all it is a cactus dodging affair as you make your way to the summit. | ||

| This was a tough climb, but I didn't give up. It was also my first summit. The mountain itself wasn't hard, but it was the 3.5 mile hike to get to the mountain. Then after you were done climbing, you had to hike back 3.5 miles to get back to your car. | |

| Started from the west trail head at Baylor Canyon Road. Temps were moderate but strong wind gusts are prevalent in this area and today was no different. Lots of loose rocks along the route. Trekking poles are a must (at least for me). The views make a trip to this peak, which is easily accessible compared to other peaks in the Organs, well worth the time and effort. | |

| After several Southern New Mexico snow storms, Baylor had between 1 and 2 feet of snow. What a great way to hike a desert peak! I "broke trail" all the way to the top. Fun stuff. | |
