Bear Creek Spire it all its glory from our bivy spot above Dade Lake. Do you like this shot or that one more? I will delete one or another to prevent redundancy; can't make a decision which one is better :) - June 11, 2005

I think I would go for this one too, although it's a tough call. Great shots of Bear Creek Spire - looks like an awesome climb.

You should come and climb it sometime. One of the most solid and cleanest granites in the Sierra!

Nice route and summit shots. Do you have any to illustate the typical climbing on the route? How continuous is it?

Martin, thanks. I have a few shots of the actual climb. Will try to post them tonight or tomorrow. As for the route quality, here is the summary: three technical pitches (one is rated 5.8 but felt more like 5.7, another is sustained 5.7, third is 5.6+ with several 5.8 moves); six-seven pitches of Class 4-5.5; ~5.6 summit block bouldering problem. All in all, about 1000 vertical feet of technical climbing from the toe of the arete to the summit.
