Hiked in a few days ago, the road from Bobcat Rd. was closed on both ends by the F.S. As we've had a rainy year, I figured it was from washouts, but hiking up 299 I saw where ATV's and 4 wheelers had made mud bogs and when the mud pits got too deep they drove around them into the forest and crushed small trees and other flora. And this is designated as a non-motorized road. The Road Closed signs on the ends of the road are doing little to deter the 4 wheelers as some of the tracks looked very recent. The hike up to the tower was beautiful in spite of the road damage, my 4 legged companion and I only went up to the Fire tower, took some pics and went back down.
