Bear Peak + South Boulder Peak
Fun hike this morning. Super icey, so it was the first chance I've had to use microspikes, which worked perfectly. Never slipped. Went up fern trail, tagged Bear Peak but didn't stay for long due too pretty fierce wind, then dropped down and went to South Boulder Peak. Made the return trip via Bear Canyon trail. Perfect day!

Climbed on a icy/snowy day via Shanahan Ridge. Made for a fun winter climb
Trees were covered in ice, mountains were completely cloud covered, peaceful hike.

Green and Bear It
A standard training route of mine from ProTrails, Green and Bear It. This starts at the Gregory Canyon trailhead, summits Green Mountain, approaches Bear Peak via Bear Peak West Ridge, and after summiting Bear, either loops down to NCAR or out-and-back to Gregory Canyon without summiting Green Mnt again. Always a good workout.
Started hiking around 1:30 pm. Lots of crowds coming down the mountain but hardly anyone coming up. Beautiful views from the top with a fun scramble at the end. Had the summit to ourselves.

Started out on Cragmoor St. Amazing hike especially as you walk through Shadow Canyon.

Boulder_1 Fern Canyon
Started at Cragmore S around 11 am and finished at 2 pm (45 mins lunch on the summit). Great hike only need traction in very small sections.

Nice Morning Climb
Started on the trail at Cragmoor Trailhead around 7am and made the summit at around 9:30. Made it back down before noon for a good lunch. Great views of the surrounding landscape. The last 50-100ft is a little steep and icy(in winter months).

Hot and buggy, fun and steep
Great hike, well marked, awesome views. Gnats/flies stuck to my sweat--gross. Too hot. The end scramble was fun though, and views of Boulder so sweet!

I have climbed Bear Peak five times over the past few years, including a winter ascent on March 1, 2014. If you were to look at the summit log, you'd find I was the only one to summit that day since it was right after a large snowstorm. This is a great peak, and is among my favorite climbs in the foothills.
