Bear Stare

Bear Stare

It's a good thing that the bears of the Olympic Mountain Range are not more aggressive. Photographed in Grand Valley on the lower slopes of Moose Peak by my friend Brigett, August 24, 2007.

Great photo!

So nice to see a photo of a bear that is not blurry for a change. Great job and thanks for sharing.

Re: Great photo!

Thank you! This was taken from no more than 100 feet. I'll be posting a few more in the next couple days.

Re: Nice Photo!

I run into them every so often but at least the black bears are afraid of people.

Yikes!

Hope you were using a powerful zoom! This would be a little too close for my comfort :-)

Re: Yikes!

Cool story and photo. The friend of mine who took this photo borrowed my camera and then walked closer and closer as I begged her to stop. She's a backcountry ranger in Olympic National Park. She told me to relax because the black bears in the park are a smaller breed and that there has never been an attack in the history of the park. Facts set aside, it was a little close for comfort.
