New Years Eve Day
First hike of six for the day and one of my favorites. Fun route over the boulders and peaceful on the AT. Not a single person at the trailhead or the trail.
Last hike of the day, the top scamble was nice. Good view.

Communion on Bear Fence Mountain
Curtis (my son) and I were visiting Shenandoah and climbed to the top of Bearfence Mountain. There we ran into a Episcopalian Men's Group that had the annual rite of celebrating communion on top of the mountain every year. They invited us to join in, which we did.

An absolutely perfect day for a hike. I took the day off of work and came up to Shenandoah just because I felt like it. The views on Bearfence were great and the scramble was lots of fun. First time I'd done this hike in a few years.

Route Climbed: Bootens Gap/Bearfence Mountain Trail Date Climbed: 8/15/04Nice day in the mountains, but cloudy in the Shenandoah Valley. This was a fun hike due to the class 2 rock climbing.
