Beartooth Butte, Dawn

Beartooth Butte at dawn, seen from the Top of the World Resort, a nice little spot with just four rooms and very friendly management. The route up Beartooth Butte is as easy as Class 2 across gentle tundra-covered ridges affording 360-degree views of truly spectacular Greater Yellowstone country. The jagged section in the center can be bypassed, but taking it on directly gives access to a section of short but interesting scrambling and route-finding.
