Dope place  Sucess!

Went down the creek trail and then kind of jumped off-trail for some fun class 3 stuff. Whole area has a lot of hikeable points.

Twice in a week  Sucess!

The first time I was basically climbing in a ping pong ball so I was unaware I went to the northern end of the ridge until I was headed back and the rock promontory revealed my mistake. The 2nd time was six days later in perfect weather so I took the ridge line horseshoe around to ascend and then down and up the valley to return to the Clay Butte tower. The rock promontory on the ridge line has VERY sharp rock (gloves recommended). I saw not a single mosquito all day but a proud grizzly momma with three cubs did walk in front of me as I was descending. Fortunately for all parties concerned she was half a mile away.

Fun hike  Sucess!

Found this to be a fun easy hike. We descended into the drainage and went straight up to the summit. Found a very nice trail through the dirt/talus. Windy and cold with t-storms looming and we got soaked on the way down. At least the wind kept the skeeters away.

With a college group  Sucess!

Climbed with the Northwest College backpacking class from our camp on the north end of Beauty Lake. We also climbed the higher summit on the north end of the ridge (Point 10,522).

Beartooth Butte, Wyoming  Sucess!

Actually, we climbe it three times. The last time in 1967. Can anyone tell me whether the cairn we built at the summit is still there, and if so, how large it is now? Thanks much, Chuck e-mail address: chuckandcarrie2001@yahoo.com

West side  Sucess!

Found a beautiful hard packed 'dry' gully to cruise up. A fun, fun summit to be on.

Scramble from Beartooth Lake  Sucess!

Scrambled up the conjoining ridge with Clay Butte to the summit with my dog back in the 80's. I only had to help my dog twice on the way back down. No jokin' about the 'skeeters.' They are intense!!
