| The smoke killed my lungs as well as the views. other then that the climing was a fun sustained class 3 scramble for the final 900feet.This climb had a bit of everything from a forested trail to a forested class 2 hill slog to alpine scrambling. the register was missing though and kind of a shame after hearing about the history it contained. anyway it was another great day in the hills about 9 hours round trip. | ||

| We camped near the cabin in Basinger Canyon as this was the only part of the canyon where we could find water. Started at 4am to avoid any trouble with afternoon thunderstorms which built up each of the three days we were hiking in this area. Gaining the upper ridge was fairly mundane and went quickly, scrambling up the bell however was one of the more entertaining climbs I have done. Route wasnt as steep as it looks from the valley floor. We were in the shade for the entirety of the ascent thanks to the giant shadow cast by the summit formation. | ||

| after getting turned back by some worrisome snow conditions in 2009, I had been biding my time to get back to finish this one. This time it was all dry. Very fun scramble up the west face. Exciting but never too exposed. I think this is one of Idaho's best scrambles. With a 4wd you can drive to 7600 feet in Basinger canyon. No one else around | ||

| Twice up it; first sometime back in maybe 1980 and a wonderful trip back up in 2008; both up the southwest facing gully. | ||

| Deep spring snow most of the way made the going somewhat slow, even with snowshoes. Went with IdahoClimber, FastandLight, and KDonaldson | ||

| Scrambled up from Bell Mountain Canyon. Steep scramble, very loose in spots, but nice and firm on summit block. A little exposure here and there, but a nice, challenging climb. What a fantastic mountain! | ||

| Climbing via the southwest couloir provided us about 2000 feet of good snow for cramponing. I'll try to get around to writing up that route. | ||

| Well after abusing my brand new truck in the dark we stumbled up the gulch and slept under a full moon before beginning our 6:30 am departure. It was a great climb! The Lost Rivers to the west were snow covered and the expanse of the Lemhi's is very impressive. Broke my camera! So can't showcase any of the pictures. If you are climbing early season crampons, axe, and snowshoes are essential. The chutes had some high exposure areas and the mixed climbing was great. Directions to the mountain are tough in the dark, but you can see a canyon to the north that you head straight up. We made it to about 7600 feet, before the road changed direction. Highly recommended! | ||

| Climbed with Idahoclimber, Fastandlight and Sean D. Our summit register was the first since October 2003. After searching for the trailhead for over an hour in our vehicle we finally found it, getting in late friday night. Started out saturday morning a little before 7 am. Snow started within 1/2 mile of the start up the slopes towards the west ridge. Some postholing required, and finally put on snowshoes to take us up to the west ridge. Snow was firm enough to support snowshoes for the mostpart. The class 3 summit tower was a mix of snow and rock, with the exposure increased in some spots due to snow chutes, where a slip could have been bad. Axe and crampons a must. By the time we were decending down the slopes of the west ridge in the afternoon, the snow had softened so that snowshoes were useless and we were sinking into our thighs. Glissading sections made it faster. Took us ~5 hours to summit and ~3 hours to descend. Great climb! | ||
