Between Rock And Air

Between Rock And Air

A gendarme on the NE ridge forced us onto the south face, Bald Mountain. We discovered a repel sling near this spot. June 3, 2011.

Sketchy

This looks a bit dicey, did you find a easier way back down?

Re: Sketchy

Unfortunately not. This shot was taken on the way back down. What did Michael say about the trip?

Re: Sketchy

He said there was a bit of climbing and that the ending was sketchy and that some of the rocks were wet.

Re: Sketchy

The "Josh man" is RIGHT!

It does look rather dicey, kinda like
diced onions with pumpernickel bread and
a tall frosty milk shake on the side !!!

Re: Sketchy

That's hilarious! Lol. I didn't know it while we were there but I recently found out that some people rope up for the entire upper ridge.

Re: Sketchy

Yeah, some folks even "rope up" for
McClellan Butte, at least the last 200 yards.

Believe Mount Si can be done without one.

Re: Sketchy

That's a good point. I've yet to rope up on rock, but I guess I'll have to one of these days. Perhaps this year on Olympus.

Re: Sketchy

Olympus is isolated enough where a rope
would come in handy. Let us know how you do!
