Gorgeous summit view!
Started my hike from Big Mountain Pass parking area around 3:30pm, only two other folks on the trail. Lots of wildflowers including a big patch of Indian Paintbrush on the summit. Fantastic views and clear skies in every direction, great trail conditions and cairns on the north side of the mountain made the path to the summit easy to find. Criminal to get views that good for barely 30 minutes of hiking to the top! Total hiking time was about an hour, and at least 10 minutes of that was sitting on the summit enjoying the view. Paired this with a hike beforehand up Little Mountain.

Big Mountain to Grandview
Started at Big Mountain Pass and hit Big Mountain on our way to Grandview. Ominous day as clouds were dense, wind was strong, and snow threatening. Great warm up hill.
Got there just as the sun was rising, beautiful views, cool clouds. Did it as part of the GWT

Jaunt with A Few Friends
A fairly short hike with Matt Evans, Duc, and Judy. A little chilly breeze at the top. Tons of lady bugs in clusters on the summit rock pile.

Part of Grandview Peak Trek
Very windy but worthwhile. Got it on the way back from Grandview Peak via the Big Mountain Pass TH. Recommend utilizing the quasi-trail on the north side of the peak for both ascent and descent. IVD wie immer.

Big Mountain
From Big Mountain Pass, along with Big Mountain South. From Big Mountain I followed the Great Western Trail to the top of Swallow Rocks, and onto Grandview Peak. Very enjoyable ridge hike all the way to Grandview, the 20+ miles flew by. Out and back in 7 hours 15 minutes.

Lots of snow
From Big Mountain Pass. There was a lot of snow and mine were the first human foot prints on the trail to Big Mountain. I left the snow shoes in the car which was a big mistake. Exceptionally good views.

nice autumn colors hike
from Big Mountain Pass to Big Mountain, as well as various prominent hilltops: 8252, 8338, hilltop off county line ~1km directly east of 8338, etc.
I wanted to climb this earlier but East Canyon has been closed. It is still closed so I rode my bike up Mormon Pioneer and ditched it on GWT. Climbed Swallow Rocks and hit Big Mountain on the way back. 3 deer, 1 snake, 1 toad

Big Mountain
June 8, 2012 - We did this as a traverse starting from Big Mountain Pass. We hiked to Big Mountain, Swallow Rocks, Grandview Peak, and the Sessions Mountains Ridge Peaks. Then we hiked down to Mueller Park. This was a rewarding hike done in great weather.
November 19, 2010 - I was interested in the history of this area. I was able to hike to it before they closed the road for the season. Snowy and windy conditions. Good view on this day before a big storm.

Nice hike
My wife wanted to see the immigration pass area as she was reading up on the history of the area so I took the opportunity to hike to the top of Big Mountain. I'd recommend it to anyone who'd like a bit of history and a view.
