Bighorn Mountain in Winter
Snowshoeing up the West Slopes of Bighorn Mountain from Lawn Lake Trailhead in February with fellow SummitPost member dholm. Between 10,500 ft and 11,100 ft there was four steep feet of powder snow. Snowshoes sank to the bottom and progress was very difficult. Here, we finally popped out of the forest to the wind-blown summit slopes.
