Biking down through Frohn Tal
After hiking two and half days with heavy rucksacks, in the afternoon of day three we shall be with bikes quckly down in Lesach Tal. But, tired as we were, from below St. Lorenzen we need to come over the Kartitsch Saddle on the other side, In Kartitsch, where the car is waiting. After walking good 8 hours today, doing some 1200 meters of altitude up and down, some 500 more meters up is awaiting us - and about 40 kilometers of the road. We hide one bike by the river, chain one rucksack to it and with the rest walk up in St. Lorenzen. There I start biking towards the saddle and Jasmina starts hitch hiking. Already the fist car stops, but he goes only to the nearby Maria Luggau. In a hot sun I am biking an hour and half, when, totally exhausted, the phone call reaches me. She got the hitch hike. Now the gentleman will go in the first restaurant in Obertilliach and have one beer. A very cold beer. August, 2009.
