Biscuit Fire

Biscuit Fire
Despite the fire's general devestation, many small areas, especially near creeks, were spared. The Illinois River Canyon saw remarkably little burning. The Kalmiopsis is certainly very far from a wasteland!

Which peak is that and where were you when you took this shot?

I took this from the ridge between Yukon and Klondike Creeks, just south of their confluence near the Illinois River. I expect this area is close to unreachable except via river trip. I believe the peak is the one labelled 4026 on the topo. If you're interested I have a recent photo of this view that I took this spring (this one's from 2004).

Consider me interested. I have been planning a trip up to Vulcan Peak in the Kalmiopsis for early summer. Even though it burned, I am keen to investigate other parts of the wilderness. Bummed if it is only reachable by raft. What are your thoughts on the Illinois and Chetco?
