Bison

Bison

One sort of becomes immune to the bison in Yelowstone because they exist in such large numbers. They nonetheless must command major respect as they are responsible for a vast majority of the wildlife injuries in YNP.

Beautiful picture!

This is a very captivating image. I feel as though he is looking straight at me.

He seemed pretty undisturbed by your presence.

Re: Beautiful picture!

I used a fairly decent zoom and cropped the image just slightly, so I was still a safe distance away. Several people get gored by them every year in YNP, so one must be extremely cautious. We had to make several very wide detours around several bison occupying the trails.

Re: Impressive

While driving home from an evening hike, we had to stop the car because one was walking down the middle of the road. The bull bison ended up walking right by the side of the car -- close enough that I could have touched him. I didn't move for fear that I would spook him. They are extremely impressive from three feet away!!
