Nice little hike up to the top of this one. We were able to see South and North Sister, Mount Washington, as well as Mount Jefferson but the views were very obscured in the haze of recent forest fires.

Great fast hike up and a nice run down. Beautiful frost on the buildings at the top. Top was socked in, so not really any spectacular views.

While on a trip to Oregon to climb Mt. Jefferson and Broken Top I decided to climb a bonus volcano just for fun. Crappy road but it is worth it for a nice trail with expansive views.

After failing to climb South Sister due to weather more reminiscent of the middle of winter, then of June, we stopped and hiked to the top of Black Butte and checked out the lookout towers and the view. Watched the storm clouds blow in across the lands below.

I have hiked to the Black Butte Lookout many times over the past couple of years. It is a great, short hike with rewarding views.

Frozen fog and interesting grouse-like birds in the trees at the summit.

Short but sweet. Weather was just starting to blow in and unfortunately it was a pretty smoky day. But still, the views from the top are something else.

Hiked up with my 1 year old early in morning. Fire guy let me up lookout to discuss how he could get his one year old son to hike as well as mine. Pictures and map at http://www.willhiteweb.com/oregon_climbing/bend/black_butte_111.htm

Spectacular view for such an easy hike. Nice big old growth Ponderosa Pines. Couple inches of snow on the top and rhime a couple inches thick covering everything. Despite the recent storm activity I had clear views from Broken top all the way to Mount Adams peeking over the clouds int he distance. It doesn't hurt to summit at sunset either....amazing.

I live in Sisters, so I've been up and down who knows how many times. But my favorite was a spur of the moment decision with a friend. We devised our plan and within an hour had parked our car and started up at about midnight. For a good portion, we ran up, and because the trail starts to high up we made it to the top in no time. I just brought my sleeping bag which I kept on my back with a runner of webbing around my shoulders like a chest harness. We slept some, and then got up at dawn to admire the mountains, then headed back down because we both had to work early.

I summited starting a long approach form the west because of deep snow, and eventually connecting in with the cimbers trail. The weather was snowing, high winds at summit, and a record storm moving into area. There was approximately two feet of snow. Trip was 11.80 miles long, and took 5.25 hours round trip.
