Day hike to bottom
Fun hike with the chains and such. Beautiful and very underrated park. Bathed in the river with some incredible views

All the Trails and the Gunnison Route
My wife and I hiked all of the established trails in the park and the Gunnison Route during our four day stay. We also ventured over to Curecanti and hiked four trails there. We loved the Gunnison route and want to come back for SOB Draw.

I live only 10 miles away, and love Black Canyon - it is great for cross country skiing in the winter, a great road biking up to South Rim (and the road to the river has the steepest grade in Colorado), good hiking, I don't fish - but Gunnison is full of large trouts, and of course rock climbing - scary huge walls, so I am doing only the easier ones (am an old lady after all).

Beautiful Canyon and Rock
I've been in this are so many times... can't believe I've never stopped to see the canyon until now.

Great Hiking
No other canyon in North America combines the narrow opening, sheer walls, and startling depths offered by the Black Canyon of the Gunnison.
Begin to hike late morning with my family. Hiked the Gunnison Route from the Visitor Center on the South Rim. Did not run into anyone on the trail. Steep cool wall very quickly heated up on the afternoon. Bring lots of water!

great parkHiked to the bottom camped around for a few days. Great views and spectacular rock. Not many people around was pretty great as well.

South RimDrove around the South Rim and hiked to a bunch of the overviews of the canyon. Only had a few hours here, since we had to head back east.
