Cone Scramble  Sucess!

Drove in from the south and out to the north. All of NF 1S07 in excellent shape. Be careful around Alderpoint. It has a wild west reputation with a lot of disappearances and unsolved murders over the years.

Black lassic 2017  Sucess!

Basically climbed up black lassic on the weekly for 3 months. Tried to climb just about every side most accents were on the west side of the mountain one the other day on the south side which was way easier.Got about 70 percent up the east face until I got tired and it was very daunting looking. I had to hike a few times in foot or more thick snow for 5 miles to get to the top a couple times cause I was trying to snowboard it before the snow melted Snowboarded down the west side twice, first time was in a storm so i didn't go from the top. second time I did, a pretty glorious run too down pretty much the steepest part of the mountain, I was on some 60 degree slopes at some points, pretty scary. So glad I got to do it was all I was thinking about was how was I gonna snowboard down it,saw the other report on here before I went with the other skiers/snowboarder and I'm thinking, okay maybe this thing is gnarlier than I think, but I made it, solo missions too, probably not the best idea, especially being a beginner, but theirs nothing like being alone in the mountains, and especially snowboarding down it. Got a good 8 nice fast carves in before I got to where the snow was naturally rolling down and I went past it and started a mini avalanche, was luckily able to get out of the way and let it do its thing before I went the rest of the way.Going though the trees was a challannge!... let out somewhere on the north west side near the creak and a large drainage pipe.was soo stoked when I made it down safe. I'm actually from Baltimore where the only mountains I've been on are 2000' or less, and black lassic was my first mountain climb so it was pretty special, and the lassics are a very special place, glad I got to connect with the area, hope to go back again some day.very very cool place, with some of the best views I've ever seen. Feel like is a kinda unknown place/underrated but surly worth the visit. dont even need to climb to the top to see mount shasta and lassen and the trinity alps and other cool stuff, nice view of mad river rock getting over the top of the peak. Heres a video of my decent! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASPH7ZJo5rI&feature=youtu.be

South Ridge  Sucess!

Nice short little hike to a cool looking peak. The semi-recent fire made brush a non-issue.

Underestimated  Sucess!

This can actually be quite an adventure, so I found. Rallied up with three others in a 4x4 through the snow as far up as we could go on the FS road. Ascended (one randonee, two tele, one snowboarder on snow shoes) around the north side of the mountain to the plateau between Black Lassic and the other Lassics. Took off our skis to climb easy loose rock and snow to the summit. One tele skier skied off the true summit towards the shoulder above the prominent coulior on the northeast side. He whooped from excitement because of how icy and steep it was. I, the other tele skier and snowboarder, decided it was too steep and icy for us so we descended to the shoulder down hard 40 degree snow. We wished we had ice axes. Just above the shoulder the snowboarder fell at least 80 feet down to an unreachable location. I assessed his LOC verbally and he seemed ok so he agreed to meet us at the road at the base of the mountain. One tele skier went on a hypotenuse course to intercept the snowboarder. Myself and the skier skied the coulior. It was steep, fun, and but a bit icy.
All in all in good conditions would make this a fun, remote, miniature backcountry winter adventure mountain.

Snow climb  Sucess!

Walked on 1S07 for 4.5 miles to the SW ridge. Descended the east face back to the road, cutting 2mi from the return trip. Spectacular views.
