Black Mountains

Black Mountains
At last I finally got some time to get out on the hills. This is a shot of me at the small cairn that marks an isolated top on The Black Mountains just north of Waun Fach. On the 24th March 2009 the weather was lovely and clear but the wind was blowing strong gusts and it was biting cold. Still it made a great days ridge walk of about 12 miles in 6 hours.

Congratulations! It's great to get out into the
hills. Of course, it's also great to get back
inside and listen to 'Pink Floyd.'

Great photo, Daveyboy!

To Larry,
Hope these Black Hills cheer you up as the colour red is also included in the overwhelming black :)

Out of all the gloves I took with me in the rush to get away these were the only ones that ended up in my car. Getting home after the day on the hills required 225 miles back to Kent via the M4/M25 and local roads. Whilst driving home I was listening to a group called Covenant from Sweden.

David - for fell/hill-walking! BTW Is this what the British use for 'hiking'?

Its a thing I have always done when on the highest points of the hills. Stand with thumbs up next to cairns or standing on top of the trig points with thumbs up. The red gloves do stand out a bit and were the only ones I had at the time.
All the best for now - David.

Safety is a prime factor to consider when
roaming though the hills in search of
elusive "trig points."

Colourful objects, such as bright red gloves, have been known to protect oneself
against evil spirits ... at least until we
get back into town and rejoin the rest of
humanity. : )

I never thought a pair of red gloves would get so much attention...! LOL
I will have to make sure I take the black ones instead. The red gloves also clash with the yellow wind jacket...!
All the best for now - David.

Please don't change your gloves David! That might get Larry down. He'd already complained about my Black Cauldron :-)

My vote would be to keep the gloves. : )

I think I'll venture outdoors to fly a kite.
