| Beautiful day. Great Views. We could actually see the skyscrapers of Atlanta in the distance. The other group at the top while we were there stated they have been there several times and that is the first time they could ever see Atlanta. | ||

| Hiked up Blood Mountain from Byron Herbet Reece parking lot as a way to get to the Coosa Backcountry Trail. There was about 2 inches of snow on the summit, and ice on everything. The temperature was about 10F, and very windy. I didn't have crampons, or YakTrax, on this trip and paid for it. The ice on the smooth rock slabs made for some treacherous walking. I strained my knees and would have fallen a lot more than I did if I didn't bring my Pacer Poles. The Appalachians are beautiful in the snow. | ||

| I followed TomSellick's advice and did this after a few mountain snowfalls. The hike and views were incredible. I got to the top an hour before sunset, and experienced light snowfall occasionaly breaking to magnificent, late day views. I couldn't think of a better way to get out of the city for a day. | ||

| My post and I haven't even signed the summit log! This is one of the great mountains of Georgia. From a distance, it's a huge whaleback of a peak and the hike up from Neel's Gap is a lot of fun (many switchbacks). Don't miss the balanced rock on the way up. The summit is open and rocky and affords some of the finest mountain views in Georgia. Truly a grand Southern peak. | ||

| Hauled my four-year-old nephew up the lower slopes with the help of his 16-year-old brother. Once he saw the views, he began to take charge. Great day, beautiful weather, and we actually could see the Atlanta skyline! Great, easy half-day hike. | ||

| A GA friend who lives and hikes the GA- AT trails killed a rattle snake that was in the center of the trail because he thought it might bite his dog. I was not impressed. All happened before I could offer my alternative, simply move the snake off the trail. It was a good size rattler. Would have done a lot of hiking here in the 1990's, but was just back for a visit. | ||
