Hey John,

excellent climb report (Half Dome) - a very enjoyable read! Great photos as well.

Thanks Radek! Bob and I had a great time out there - pretty incredible really. I just have to find some time to get the photos into the trip report now ;-)

My wife and I will have a chance to do some climbing in Yosemity mid June this year (for the first time). Snake Dike has been on our list for a while - among other things, been working up the nerve for the runout 5.7 sections. The route photos you and others submitted to SP have been quite helpful!

Radek - you should definate give it a go! Just try to avoid the weekends as it can get very crowded during the summer, 20+ people on the route seems to be common. Two people I know had to wait 5 hours at the base just to get on the rock last summer! Get there early and get in line if you're not the first. They decided to go late to avoid the crowds but that plan backfired on them. The two 5.7 sections aren't so bad. You can protect the first one with a piece in the roof or bypass it altogether using a 5.5 variation. There's a bolt immediately before the second 5.7 section and a double about 8 feet after. The run out sections are really just on the 5.4 and lower sections above. Have fun!

John,

Thank you for the information! It's always comforting to clip a bolt before a tough move. Our time of the week will be Sat. thru. Wed. in mid June - so we'll probably hit "less popular" climbs the first two days and save SD for Monday. Thanks.
