Bob sitting on what is the highest point on Lassen Peak. Within a half hour, the summit area was swarming with people. We decided to go down before the summit collapsed from the sheer weight of all those others.

Well, they came up the trail in all shapes and sizes. From toddlers to AARP members. It was hot and many had no water, no sunscreen, no nothing. I did admire the two guys who were on top of things by bringing their ice axes. ; ) I saw no one with skis however.

DEAN: Between you, Bob & Dennis... you guys REALLY crack me up - what a GREAT TRIO! I climbed Lassen in October of 1989. Was hoping I might avoid the crowds - BUT, not the case. Saw a large group OF PEOPLE arriving around noontime. Guess a few of them were a bit ROTUND. Anyway, I went on to LAVA BEDS after that - far less crowds up there! TAKE CARE !
