Just as Bor said--another great one! Do you have any pictures of just the upper portion of the summit ridge? You mention it being visible in a few of your route photos, but don't have a very close-up view of it.
I don't have any good close-ups of the ridge. Very few at all. One with over exposed background and one with me sitting on the summit and very little of the actual ridge is visible on that one. I don't want to put any of those two photos on SP. I can send them by e-mail if you like.
Recalling the climb now...
I was in a hurry. Walking out from Pissis. Late in the day. No plans of climbing B Grande. Saw it. So close. Decided last minute. Went for it very fast. The total time of the climb was 1.50h from 5450m and back. No time for a lot of photos ;-)
My email has been in a state of malfunction for the past month or month in a half. When/if we bother to repair it, I'll be sure to reply. I'd love to see them. I'm glad you decided to climb it--this is an excellent page!
Did you ever hear anything of the strange naming of Grande vs Chico?
If you drop me an email, I could put you in touch with Mike Kelsey, and he could put you in touch with Greg Horn. If anyone does know of other ascents, it would probably be these guys.
I have asked a lot of questions to quite a lot of people about the names, but no answer yet. Johan Reinhard, think it's a mistake, nothing else.
I talked quite a lot to Michael about the area. His book is great for general planning. I found a little plastic container with some small items from Greg on top of Bonete Chico. I'll drop you a mail.
It's really important with water info for this area and it makes life so much easier. We wasted a lot of time walking close to glaciers, penitentes fields etc. and a lot of energy carrying too much water at other times.
