My 1st state hp and its my home state  Sucess!

This was my 199th named peak, but my 1st state high point. What an awesome mountain and great experience. Only bad part was on the way down there was a traffic jam at the snowbridge. The leader of a boy scout group didn't want to wait it out so he tried to run across the snowfield below the ridge top and about halfway across he lost his footing and started sliding. He slid and tumbled all the way to the bottom, last I heard he broke his leg or ankle and search and rescue were at the trailhead. Quite a few people watching from COR on their way up the mtn turned around after watching that, it was pretty freaky.

COR before the storms  Sucess!

REALLY watch the weather for this one. We started ~4:15AM, topped out ~8:30AM, and had clouds building as we descended. The previous afternoon had dumped 1/2" hail in a lightning storm.

Before the trip, I thought the comments on the ease of COR were climber hubris, but now I have to agree COR is fairly mild for anyone with exposure and scrambling experience. The routes around the obstacles are generally obvious, and the rock is good and pruned of loose stuff. In heavy snow years, and after a cold night the crossing at the top of the couloir could be very creepy.

22 out of 24  Sucess!

This was my second trip to the top. Took a group of youth and adults from my church. 22 out of 24 made it to the top. Had bad weather, rain, hail, thunder and terrific static electricity. This trip was easier than it was 6 year ago because the snow bridge is at least 5 ft higher. However there is not a good trail across the snow so it was a bit scarry for some of us. To many people were sliding on it instead of helping to build a deep footprint across.

Has to go down among my favorites  Sucess!

We were the 5th of 6 parties to attempt that day, two of which did not make it past Chicken-Out. I thought it was some of the most fun and high-quality scrambling I have done - not the awkward butt-scooting or messy choss piles I have often done. And the views are awesome. There were only two sketchy parts: an overhung descent to a snow bridge (not the main one) without much room or handholds on either side to swing yourself around it without losing the ridge (needed to stay on the ridge unless you had an ice axe), and the traverse of the main snowfield (it was easy but we left our axes in the car so couldn't afford to slip), which could have been avoided by sticking the ridge, but we decided to follow the trail along that part to make better time.

Great!  Sucess!

Got a little worried when we saw people turning back from Chicken Out Ridge, but it turned out to be nothing we couldn't handle. Amazing views from the summit!

Chicken Out Ridge  Sucess!

Climbed COR with fellow CMCer, Jamie Norris. The trail on the summit ridge was covered with steep snow, so we ascended the final 800ft on the ridgeline. It was easy climbing but very exposed. We were rewarded with a Bluebird day. There was not a cloud in the sky! It took us 13 1/2 hours RT. This is my 37th state HP.

Can't Climb it enough  Sucess!

Climbed it before, and will climb it many more times! It's good to have a good climb like this just 3.5 hours from Boise. It can offer some nice hard routes or some simple family ones.

Re: A Regular

Summited also on 9/3/2010 in celebration of my "big" birthday. I may retire this one. My knees are telling me to consider new peaks over repeats.

Borah and Lewis & Clark's Idaho  Sucess!

Had a fun trip up, enjoyed scrambling along the ridge up. After, checked out where Lewis & Clark crossed the Bitterroots, and the source of the Missouri.

Great day  Sucess!

Great weather for the climb. Kudos to S&R out of MacKay, helping that poor gentleman who thought it was a good idea to climb with a colostomy bag, over-nighted with no gear.

Steep, but awesome  Sucess!

One of my most favorite climbs of all time. The first section up to COR was quite steep, although the worst part was the relentless mosquitos. COR was quite fun. The rock was nice and solid. I really enjoyed this peak. The weather was beautiful. I would love to come back and climb Leatherman Peak

My first 12er  Sucess!

Climbed this one weekend with a good friend up the normal trail. Not sure on the exact date as I didn't have good records at the time. It was a great time, but as it was 10 years ago don't recall much except the fact we took a wrong turn on Chicken Out and got to see some rocks go over.

Again  Sucess!

I have no idea how I ended up here again. I have one more 12er left.

I took my brother's family up by request. Enjoyed it quite a bit, though.

chilly  Sucess!

This was one of those days where it alternates between quite nice (in the lee of the wind) to very chilly and "am I going to get blown off this thing?"
