Bowan fr the west

Bowan Mountain (7895F, 1655P) is a magnificent mountain from this angle. It is 3.5 miles due east of McGregor Mountain. It's pretty steep on all sides. The climb is not too difficult from the SE side, apparently. There is one exposed move near the top. July 29, 2006.

Ever try this one?

Can't believe this one is not on SP yet. Very cool looking peak from this direction.

Re: Ever try this one?

We had the option of doing Bowan or McGregor BM from the pass (visible here in the photo). We opted for the latter because of dwindling daylight and because at the time I didn't know what difficulties there would be on Bowan. It will be a nice place to return to someday. From the pass here you'd have to circle counterclockwise across the south side (at right) to the SE corner then go up. I don't know, maybe 2 hours from the pass max. Looking at the photo, it appears doable to go straight up from the pass (Class 3 and 4).
