Box Elder Peak, as seen from...
Box Elder Peak, as seen from Alpine on the west. Terraces dug by the CCC to prevent erosion can be seen on the left. Sleigh Runner, the gully running parallel to the south (right) ridge still has lots of snow. Pioneers claimed if it still had snow the 1st of June, there would be plenty of water for the growing season. This year, it had snow into August. Photo taken on 6/18/05

Sorry for the late reply - busy summer. If you follow the ridge line north of Box Elder, you will pass several unnamed peaks before reaching White Baldy. The peaks south of Box Elder are Wadsworth Peak and Willow Peak (the pointy one seen from Alpine). Early Alpine settlers called the whole range from Box Elder 'East Mountain'.
