Route Climbed : Phelps/ Box elder canyon ridge
4/14/06Left the car around 3:30 and went right up the steep ridge seperating boxelder canyon and phelps. Stayed on the ridge all the way up. Great exposure down into Box Elder Canyon. A fun route with snow. (Without snow it would be alot of bushwacking.) Brought the skis and once it warmed up had about 3,000 vertical of all conditions -> Ice-corn-slush.
5/26/07 ROUTE: Deer Creek TH. Nice quick hike up to the saddle and then up the ridge. Still a little snow up there on that north facing ridge, but didn't need snowshoes.

Spectacular Views
Awesome mountain. Took the dry creek trail from Alpine. Climbed the west slopes to the summit ridge, then to the summit. Class 2 at the hardest. The views were absolutely spectacular, probably some of the best I've seen in the Wasatch, especially with the added beauty of winter. Our only mistake was leaving the skis at home. The west face was in perfect condition. This would have been one of the best rides of our life. At least we brought lightweight sleds, which still gave us a good reward.
This is a great, short winter climb in a beautiful area. My partner and I started around noon and were up and down by sunset. It'd be a great peak to snowboard/ski down. Snoeshoes and ice axes were needed.

Weston (a former Boy Scout) and I did this just before homework got too serious. Interesting scramble up the East Ridge. Incomparable views all around.

We started hiking in the morning from Granite Flats. I wore my snowshoes during the entire hike. The summit ridge was very cold and windy. Snow was blowing everywhere but I was just happy that I made it. The view was awesome. The hike was led by Grizz Randall.

I loved this climb. I have done it a few times and It is the best in the early spring when there is snow. I am planning on going up the south slope this April.

Nice scenic hike. It didn't seem too steep, but the snow sliver on the ridgeline allowed for some steep step kicking. On top there were thousands of lady bugs, which my friend Alan and I had originally mistaken for algea on the rocks!
After securing a shuttle ride from his girlfriend, Alan and I dropped down the southeast side, doing a nice standing glissade down a few hundred feet of a snow sliver berfore traversing on a pack trail north to the Dry Creek Trail.
This peak was very scenic and I hope to return for some skiing or an earlier spring snow climb!

I've climbed Box Elder several times. Each time I have managed to catch a dozen mountain goats along the upper ridge. It offers great views of Timp, Lone Peak, Pfeifferhorn, etc.

Good hike. Easy trail to Deer Creek/Dry Creek saddle, then the trail sort of fades in the trees going south up Box Elder for about 200 feet. Once through the worst of the trees, the trail re-emerges and is easy to follow to the summit.

Route Climbed: Deer Creek Date Climbed: Sept. 20th 2003I've spent a lot of time up in this area with my wife and kids and decided to finally hike up to Box Elder peak.
Besides the rough horse beaten trail to the saddle it was clockwork as usual.
Met a guy "Dave" coming from the White Pine trailhead at the summit.
Decided for a little different decent off. Took a more direct route down through White Creek.

Re: Route Climbed: Deer Creek Date Climbed: Sept. 20th 2003I believe White Creek joins Deer Creek from the south, on the east side of Box Elder. My topo shows the name of the canyon as White Canyon.
