Breach Wall Ice Climb
The Breach Wall is a difficult ice climb first ascended by Reinhold Messner in 1976. In technical interest it has been compared to the North Wall of the Eiger. The route ascends the big icicle (seen here at left) up onto the Diamond glacier. The base of the Heim glacier is seen on the right. Photographed at 13,000 feet in the Baranco Valley on Mount Kilimanjaro, December 9th, 2007.

Good question. My guess would be that it is very uncommon. Here is a more recent Russian attempt.
