Technically easy but good workout  Sucess!

It felt good to get this one. Nearly 5000 feet of elevation gain, so a good workout. It was also hot. Great views. Poor little Sunup Lake has really taken it on the chin this year. Contrasting photos of what it looked like at the end of July, when there were big snow drifts and lots of water, and now after a rainless, hot August, it is bone dry. The hike up to Bingley Gap is a a grunt with little reward in the views department, but it sure got nicer when it opened up.

A Wonderful Trip  Sucess!

After work on the 29th I headed out to the trail and I made it to the ridge top between Sunup Lake and Round Lake before it got dark. I bivied there until sunrise and then continued on to the summit. It was a little tricky finding the best way to bushwhack down to Sunup Lake. I was very impressed by the views from the summit. I found that I was the only one in 2008 to sign the register which is really just a few slips of paper in a plastic pill bottle. I saw a black bear on the upper slopes while descending. I must have passed very close to him before I turned around and saw him. Thanks Alexei for recommending this one.
