Re: Bellissima Tomek!

Happy you like it Roberto, thanks!

I've got just too many captures of famous Brecha from all possible angles and distances when viewed from Spanish side, to be published within next days. It was my first time in lovely Pyrenees :)

Best greetings from rainy, too rainy island!

Re: Bellissima Tomek!

It reminds me of the optical sight of a rifle.

Re: were you....?

Hola!

Thinking of it like about Taillon, but eventually gave it up, what appeared to be very fortunate decision as 2 heavy storms caught me soon later on my way bac to Goriz...

That originally looking pass was the main target of the day, hiking with one Australian for hours, great memories and the cave on the route just brilliantly scenic!

Great!

A really excellent photo you posted of the Brecha de Rolando, Tomek!! I remember going over it in 1993 - the first time I set my foot on Spanish soil - and the fierce wind that greeted me from the Spanish side when I reached the top, coming from the Refuge de la Brèche!
Cheers,
Eric

Re: Great!

"soil", I like the word. little of it on the foot of the Brecha ! Every true mountain lover a bit supersticious pass at least once in his life.
Tomek do you know the legend of this gate ?

Re: Great!

Yes, I do. The legend of knight Roland and his Durendal is absolutely romantic.

;oP thou shall not pass!

Nice feature, I wonder if the border patrols had a shack there before the EU.

hiking torla to gavarnie

I am thinking of run/hiking from Torla, Spain to Gavarnie, France. Through Ordessa Canyon, Rolandos Breach and down to Gavarnie for the night returning the following day over the pass that leads through Bujaruelo and down GR11 to Torla. Can I do this with Microspikes only? Is there much exposure on the French side leading down to Gavarnie? Any advices appreciated. ken
