Route Climbed: from Kleinmatterhorn Date Climbed: 22.07.2005  Sucess!

Breithorn the second. The weather was most beautiful, much better than the first. The same are the fotos. It's a super-view to Matterhorn, Monte Rosa, Mt. Blanc a.o.

Route Climbed: Normal from Plateau Rosa Date Climbed: July 2004  Sucess!

It was my first 4000er. The route is very easy in good weather, from Klein Matterhorn it must be even too easy. You can find more detailed description under http://zuraw.iostrow.com/mountains2004.html

Route Climbed: Normal (from Klein Matterhorn) Date Climbed: 14th July 2005  Sucess!

Pleasant easy walk on snow, done as acclimatisation for Mont Blanc. Great views, and quite a feeling standing on top of my first 4000er!

Done as a "get to know you" climb with a new partner and for acclimatization. Fine enough time and great weather. Crowded, but not overly so.

Route Climbed: Normal Route Date Climbed: July 18, 2005  Sucess!

Had great weather with two new friends, doing another "get to know you" (aka "will you two kill me if I rope together on something more serious?") hike. But I was dying on the way down... wishing I had my skis, with excellent spring snow conditions that would have made for a great ski down.

We got caught in a thunderstorm that finally hit about 10min from the cablecar station. I was pulling my two partners like crazy roped together desperately trying to get out from underneath the ski lift and back to safety while lightning struck all around and hail so hard it left little blood blisters on my hands!

Good fun.

Route Climbed: Normal route from Klein Matterhorn Date Climbed: July 21, 2005  Sucess!

Nice summit ridge, route was fairly crowded. Easy and nice to start e.g. a Monte Rosa tour.

We descended over the East ridge to point 4075m. From there on, one can go further to Breithorn Mittelgipfel. Is a short but very nice ridge!

We started our Monte Rosa Traverse from Klein Matterhorn and popped to the summit of Breithorn on the way.

Made the ascent really fast to get continued to Pollux.

Easy climb. Bright sunny day. Quite hard conditions - not possible to ski much at all, crampons from the bergshrund.

Route Climbed: normal route from kl. matterhorn Date Climbed: august 19 2004  Sucess!

After two failed attempts, the mountain granted me access. But it didn't come cheap. Wind's were at galeforce, and it took over two hours to reach the summit. Sadly there was absolutely no view.

Route Climbed: Ski tour from Theodulpass Date Climbed: March 25, 1966  Sucess!

This "easy" 4000er was my first experience of ski-touring on a high mountain (details provided in Trip Report). Subsequently I came back many more times to the summit while on ski tours. Finally in Aug 02 I did the Breithorn traverse (west ridge only) with my sons. All the climbs were make with local guides because Breithorn might have become a serious endeavor if there had been a sudden weather change. In every instance, the views that we had from the top were breathtaking.

Route Climbed: SW Ridge, Normal Date Climbed: August 16, 2004  Sucess!

We reached the summit in good weather and enjoyed the views for a few minutes before the wind picked up and it quickly got cold. Very busy day on the Breithorn also.

Route Climbed: normal route from klein Matterhorn Date Climbed: 31-07-2004  Sucess!

On a beautifull sunny day, was my first 4000er and for sure not my last. This is an easy mountain to climb and fun to try. The only pitty is that there were so much people having the same idea that day ;-)....

Take a good coat with you cause it can be windy and cold on the top!!

cheers Milan

Route Climbed: Normal Route Date Climbed: 11 July 2004  Sucess!

Reached the summit from Plateau Rosa in 2h20min. The weather was not perfect. Very cold, windy and cloudy. The traverse across the Breithorn plateau was done in clouds and very low visibillity (15 m). Lots of people on the track to the summit, which caused some trafficjams, but we managed to overtake them. Another summit for the Danish MountainGoat Team: Mikkel, Kenneth and Mads.
