Re: damn!They sure deserve respect, but if they're mad at or afraid, you can hear their rattle from quite far away. I've run into quite a few trail running and only twice did I come close to getting bitten when I didn't see them until the last moment.

Oh Buzz...Many people out West kill them on sight but I never harm them. I've had close encounters but hey, I was an intruder in their environment.
