Bristlecone forest in the Devils Armchair. Bristlecone forests as a rule seem to include vast amounts of deadfall. Is this because decomposition around treeline occurs at such a lesser rate? Photo taken by Erin Burr on May 16, 2004.

This is the site of a wildfire decades ago. If you look at the trees closely, there is evidence of the fire and years of wind scouring.
